John Taussig
Founder of the nonprofits Backcountry and Maritime Medical Guides, John has spent 20+ years working on various ground and air rescue units as a flight medic, ski patroller, ambulance, and ranger paramedic. As an adventure cruiser and Merchant Mariner, he’s travelled to Alaska multiple times, and to points south via the Panama Canal on his Alajuela 38. In 2017, John crafted a makeshift trimaran from a Klepper sailing kayak and rowed to Alaska, raising $30,000 for Multiple Myeloma research grants. The experience inspired him to relocate to Bellingham, WA where he now lives with his wife and young son.
